The April 15 tax deadline is approaching quickly. Milwaukee area residents are being offered a service that will help them fill out and file their taxes at no charge.
The Milwaukee Asset Building Coalition (MABC) is preparing state and federal taxes free for income eligible residents at sites located across Milwaukee County. The coalition has sites open six days a week. MABC expanded its hours Monday through Friday to increase its availability to working families and students.
MABC has sites that offer full tax service at Social Development Commission facilities at 4041 N. Richards Street, 6848 N. Teutonia and 2701 S. Chase Avenue. Other tax sites include Goodwill on N. 91st, the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, MATC Downtown, Aurora Family Services on Highland, Vets Place Central, and the Milwaukee Health Department Southside Center on S. 23rd Street.
Last tax season, MABC filed more than 10,000 tax forms that returned more than $14-million to Milwaukee area residents in refunds and tax credits. The program is looking to serve even more tax filers with the free service this season.
