Jobs and more at Spring Job and Resource Fair

May 12, 2012

Finding work that can sustain a family is a real challenge. Milwaukee area residents looking for work will get the chance to meet with employers who are trying to fill positions at the 6th Annual Spring Community Job and Resource Fair.

The daylong event will be held Saturday, May 19 from 10am to 3pm by the Social Development Commission (SDC) at Greater New Birth Church located at 8237 W. Silver Spring Drive. The day will provide access to businesses and organizations that are looking for new employees.

A wide range of valuable resources will also be presented during the Job and Resource Fair including access to Drivers’ License Recovery and case workers for Child Support. There will also be resources in the areas of employment training, education, health, housing, public safety, and financial education. Mentors for a Day will be provided to give participants a personal coach to maximize their experience at the event which is free and open to the public.

There will be a special emphasis on Women’s Health at the fair and there will be a Kohl’s Conversation for the Cure Workshop offered. There will be on-site health screenings for blood pressure, diabetes and more. Prevent Blindness will also provide special training sessions for groups and schools interested in certification for youth vision screenings.
