Teams of high school and middle school age youth put on an impressive display of knowledge at the 2nd Annual Black Knowledge Bowl.
20 teams of young students participated in the competition held at the Milwaukee Public Museum. They answered a wide range of questions on topics that included Africa, Discovery & Industry, Music, and Milwaukee Black History. The event was held to fall during February, Black History month.
A team of youngsters from Cass Middle School won the middle school category with a Hickman Academy team finishing second. For the second year in a row, Running Rebels fielded the winning high school age team, nipping a team of students from Pulaski High School in tightly contested showdown. All the young scholars showed an impressive range of knowledge of Black History. Trophies were awarded to the first and second place teams by Jason Newton, anchor for WISN News.
The Black Knowledge Bowl was put on by the Social Development Commission with financial support from sponsors who included Cricket Wireless, Associated Bank, We Energies and Assurant Health. Plans are already underway for the 3rd annual Black Knowledge Bowl to be held in February of 2011.
