African American Alzheimers & Related Demetia Caregiver Support Group June 4 at 6pm

Brentwood Church of Christ’s bi-monthly African American Alzheimer’s & Related Demetia Caregiver Support Group meeting will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the church (6425 N. 60th Street). This group is free and open to the general public. The meeting will include a presentation by Stephanie Houston of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute, she will present on in-home assessment options. Thousands to benefit from faster disability application process

Tens of thousands more people will benefit from a faster and more efficient process when applying for disability benefits, thanks to an expansion in Social Security’s Compassionate Allowances.
Compassionate Allowances are a way of quickly identifying diseases and other medical conditions that clearly qualify for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability benefits — allowing for faster decisions in the most obvious cases.
Michael J. Astrue, commissioner of Social Security, announced 38 more conditions that are being added to the Compassionate Allowances list. This expands the original list of …

Capital Campaign fuels relocation for Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Wisconsin chapter, recently moved into a new home at 620 S 76th Street, Suite 160 in Milwaukee. The move was made possible by a year-long capital campaign launched by the Association which raised $258,600 and involved the support and investment of a number of local foundations and individuals. The new offices were designed from the ground up to be a highly functional space that will enhance team work and productivity among the Association’s 24 employees and many volunteers.
