Milwaukee continues clean-up after flood

Local pantries struggle to keep up with demand for emergency food.
After record breaking rainfall flooded many areas of the city, United Way of Greater Milwaukee announced it will award $50,000 in funding to Hunger Task Force to help assure disaster victims get emergency food. Funding will help assure the network of food pantries, shelters and meal programs hardest hit by the storm are fully stocked.
Programs that will benefit from the donation include the Jewish Community Center and the All Saints Catholic Church Food Pantry which sustained complete flood damage.

Man who survives 28 days in rubble brought to Salvation Army clinic for help
Salvation Army personnel provided initial triage to the latest survivor of the Haitian earthquake. Evan Ocinia, a 28 year old man, was brought to The Army’s clinic in the Delmas 2 neighborhood of Port-au-Prince after being miraculously pulled from the rubble in the Lionshead marketplace on the morning of February 8th — 28 days after the earthquake that destroyed nearly the entire country. The Salvation Army update on Haiti relief efforts

The Salvation Army is in the midst of its largest International relief effort since the Tsunami in 2005.
More than 700 officers and staff permanently stationed in Haiti are responding to the needs of the people there.
Dozens of Salvation Army disaster response workers and medical teams from the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and other countries have been sent to Haiti and are administering aid.

The Salvation Army is mobilizing resources and personnel to assist with the international relief effort in Haiti following a severe earthquake Tuesday that damaged much of the country’s infrastructure, housing and commercial buildings.
The Salvation Army has had a presence in Haiti since 1950 and currently operates schools, clinics, a hospital, feeding programs, children’s homes and church-related activities spread across two major facilities in Port au Prince, close to the epicenter of the earthquake and at other locations in the country.
