Join The American Cancer Society to help create a world with less breast cancer at The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® Walk

3 May 2012

Thousands of event participants including local breast cancer survivors, volunteers, businesses and community members will unite to fight breast cancer and save lives at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® 5K walk presented by Kohls Cares. This noncompetitive, inspirational event raises awareness and funds to fight breast cancer and provides hope to all people facing the disease.

In 2012, more than 4,200 Wisconsin women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Additionally, approximately 40 percent of women diagnosed in Wisconsin live in the Milwaukee area. Funds raised through Making Strides will help the American Cancer Society save lives by providing information on the steps necessary to prevent breast cancer or find it early; helping people get well by providing support during and after a breast cancer diagnosis; finding cures through investments in groundbreaking research; fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to increase research funding; and rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.

The American Cancer Society is proud to acknowledge Presenting Sponsor: Kohls Department Stores. Flagship Sponsors of the event include: Columbia St. Marys, Extendicare, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., and Rockwell Automation. Event media sponsors include: Fox 6 WITI-TV and Clear Channel Radio stations V100.7 WKKV, FM.106.1 WMIL, and 97.3 Radio Now WRNW. The Venue Sponsor is Discovery World.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m. (Program begins at 9:15 a.m.) The location will be at Discovery World located at 500 North Harbor Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
