Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones

On Saturday November 5, 2011 Team Priscilla Elizabeth Coggs-Jones officially kicked off the candidacy by talking to over 200 residents doing door to door in the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, District Five.

Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones attended Brown Street Academy, St. Leo Catholic Academy, a graduate of St. Joan Antida High School and has attended college. She is the founder of Urban Grassroots Inc.; a union member of AFSCME Local 882, as a Youth Instructor for Milwaukee County Parks Department. Recently Priscilla worked to address “mob violence” by organizing “Bridging the Gap Youth Summit, and the “Girls to Women” workshops. She is a volunteer working with the City of Milwaukee Fourth of July Commission Celebration Program for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park and a active volunteer with Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. She is a member of Holy Redeemer Institutional Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Sedgwick Daniels. Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones has attended candidacy trainings such as The White House Project, and American Federation for Children Candidate Training School.

Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones is the dedicated mother of Solomon Kingston Coggs-Butler and understands the urgency to keep Milwaukee County as the safety net for the residents. Candidate Coggs- Jones said “I know the strain of the property taxpayers and those in need of Milwaukee County Services…I will work for more public and private partnerships to keep human rights, justice, jobs, programs and services intact and avoid a heavy burden of the property taxpayers.”

Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones comes from a family legacy of her grandfather and her grandmother Isaac and Marcia Coggs who started in public service in 1952. Her mother State Representative Elizabeth M. Coggs has mentored and supported Priscilla in her community endeavors. Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones has worked side by side with her cousins State Senator Spencer Coggs, State Representative Leon Young and Alderwoman Milele Coggs.

Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones is the founder of Urban Grassroots Inc., a nonprofit organization that is focusing on maximizing the effectiveness regarding concerns for environmental conservation and improvement of the health of urban environmental areas. She has also work to involve youth and adults to collaborate in overcoming the cycle of poverty and violence through a broad degree of inclusivity, participation, and communication in Milwaukee and other urban areas of the State of Wisconsin. She has collectively worked with Peace for Change Alliance Inc. to respond to the youth mob activity by holding the first “Stop the Violence Bridging the Gap Youth Summit” this past September, where over 250 youth and elected officials participated.

They will be re-convening in January to bring solutions and positive activities to keep our youth involved in making the community positive.
