SOCIAL SERVICE

The Social Development Commission (SDC) empowers Milwaukee County residents with the resources to move beyond poverty.

Family Advocate positions in our Head Start Program will provide direct services to families; conduct recruitment, enrollment, home visits; advocate for families with community agencies; assist families to learn about and utilize community resources. Requirements include degree in a social services or related area with a minimum of 2 years related experience; knowledge of community resources; ability to develop and maintain relationships with staff, parents in a multi cultural environment working within a program that is very team and parent oriented; valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. Most Head Start staff approximately follows the MPS calendar, working between late August – May.

Benefits package includes a health plan, 4 weeks vacation, paid time off at winter and spring breaks, flexible spending account, sick & personal days, pension plan, and tuition reimbursement.

PROFESSIONAL

Assessment Supervisor

The Social Development Commission (SDC) plans, develops and operates programs to improve the lives of low-income people in Milwaukee and the W2 Eligibility and Assessment portion of the W-2 program coordinates employment support for qualified residents. The Assessment Supervisor oversees areas that provide vocational assessments, career counseling, and crisis intervention and barrier identification assessments to clients. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Vocational Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or related area; ability to develop and maintain relationships in a multi cultural environment.

Benefits package includes a health plan, 4 weeks vacation, flexible spending account, sick & personal days, pension plan, tuition reimbursement.
